I have a 67 BJ8 with 67,000 miles and it has been recently checked out and
has been running great.
On the way to the British Car Show in Fallbrook this weekend it seemed to be
"slipping" into overdrive rather than a firm shift. Same way out of gear.
With all the excitement of the show I forgot to talk to every one there
about it :-(
On the way home after about 14 miles of stop and go from 0-60, when I got to
the freeway it wouldn't drop into overdrive at all. If I left the switch in
the ON position and let off the gas the RPMs dropped really fast like it was
in but if I pressed on the gas pedal AT ALL the RPMs jumped immediately up
2,000rpms. If I left it in the OFF position and let my foot off the gas
pedal, the RPMs only dropped slightly as you would expect decelerating.
The oil level is normal.
Any suggestions before I drop the car off for an extended stay at the shop?
TIA
