Patton,
I polished my windshield posts about 35 years ago. They have stabilized to a
pleasant (to me) silvery metallic appearance with a satin texture, not unlike
brushed stainless steel. They were not anodized, and an occasional (like every
five years or so) brief rub with Nev-R-Dull wadding spruces them right up.
You do not really want them BRIGHT (like chrome) as there is way too much
surface area. Personally, I find the natural aluminum MUCH more attractive than
the
original paint.
I know many will disagree, and I know you will lose concours points, but I
have seen FAR, FAR worse things done to our cars. My car has always been
garaged, in northern CA, so my atmospheric conditions have not been as bad as
Perry's. Just my .02 :-)
