Too funny! Ya got the dipsticks right on!

However, funny as the joke is, our oil shortage is caused by
a number of seemingly unrealated events and curious behavior.
People want to drive cars that only get 10 miles to the gallon.
They buy 4 wheel drive SUVs to go to the supermarket and pick
the kids up from soccor practice. They have an image that's
killing then though they don't see it. They see a huge SUV as
being safer. If one hits me in my Healey, I'm dead.

Remember that political joke? What's all our oil doing under
their sand?

If we could wake up to the point of reducing our fuel consumptions
by seven percent...we would never be dependent on Middle-Eastern
oil....and all that goes with that. We need to move on.

I know it was tough to give up the horse and buggy. II wuz there.
Damn
auto-mobiles! No one is ever going to get anywhere in them things!
But
we did. Almost a hundred years ago. It's time to move ahead with
technologies we already have and to free ourselves from the tyrany of
Big Oil. We gotta do it.

We can.

My '54 BN1 got 27 mph on its last trip to Tahoe and back. If all the
cars
on the road did as least as well we would not have an Oil Shortage.

Still - it's a funny joke!

Happy Earth Day, Listers.

Subject: THE OIL SHORTAGE

THE OIL SHORTAGE

A lot of folks can't understand
how we came to have
an oil shortage here in America.
~~~
Well, there's a very simple answer.
~~~
Nobody bothered to check the oil.
~~~
We just didn't know we were getting low.
~~~
The reason for that is purely geographical.
~~~
Our OIL is located in
~~~
Alaska
~~~
California
~~~
Oklahoma
and
TEXAS
~~~
~~~
Our
DIPSTICKS
are located in
Washington DC
