Ben,

The fuel pump will continue to click even if there is no fuel in the lines. 
THe next time it happens , you can check for fuel delivery at the  carbs by 
removing one of the fuel lines and have someone  turn the ignition key.   
Direct 
any fuel coming out ino a jar or can. Be careful.  You should get a healthy 
stream of gas.

     It is possible that you are pulling air into the lines.  A leak may be 
so small that you will not get a puddle. But the air leaking in can build up 
and finally reach the carbs.  Have someone blow into the gas tank while 
observing all the fittings for leaks
