Strongest solution is when the area where the feet are located are a bit lo=
wer than the friction area of the flywheel : then the PP is strongly locate=
d and eventually the shims should be trimmed . When the flywheel is entiril=
y flush, the location of the PP is less secure.=20
If hard steel shims are used, I think this will not be a weak spot?=20

I=E2=80=99m curious about Glen=E2=80=99s comment on shimming the pressure p=
late. I=E2=80=99ve done that in this situation, using small thin hardened w=
ashers. Seemed to work fine, but that was a seat of the pants gotta-load-th=
is-thing-tomorrow-and-go-racing sort of fix. Anyone think that solution is =
a disaster in the making?=20

I agree with Marcel=E2=80=99s last email. If the fingers point inward, your=
 clutch disc is too thick, indicating that the disc and Pressure Plate are =
incompatible.=20


Best solution is to get a thinner disc or a compatible PP.=20


Hope this clears up any confusion.=20

So we don't agree; maybe, if the fingers end up flat after tightening, it s=
till can be normal, but if they are pointing inwards a bit, it is not corre=
ct. You can made a decision by measuring how much the fingers are moving in=

Just be sure that the throwout bearing is compatible with the =E2=80=9Cfing=
ers.=E2=80=9D If the fingers are straight the throwout bearing face should =
be rounded. If the fingers have a crook in them (bent) then the throwout be=
aring face should be flat.=20

just installed a new to me (rebuilt) laycock PP and a new clutch disc. As I=
 tightened the PP the fingers ended up pretty much flat across, no longer p=
eaked. So when the hydraulics is engaged the throw out will press the clutc=
h fingers deflecting inward (invert from when on the bench). Makes me uncom=
fortable / doesn't seem right.=20
