Iâ??ve used 3.7 and higher (3.45) with good effect using a Quaife dog box with
a southwick-converted stock rear end. With close ratios you can afford to be
taller since it turns your effectively three speed box into four once 1st gear
becomes useful for more than getting out of the pits. You just need to get used
to using first in the tight stuff.
