PEYEN were the original head gaskets... seem to be the best still.... I
haven't heard much positive about the copper gaskets Bill.... are you
bringing
your Spitwad to the Heartland FOT in August?

I've had trouble getting my copper head gaskets to seal on my Spitfire
motors
unless the head and block surfaces are very, very smooth (and
clean). Once
the surfaces were smooth, I had reasonable luck getting
them to seal using
spray-on Copper Coat, spraying it on both sides,
hanging it to dry until it
was tacky.

Ultimately, I have gone back to the composite gaskets - the Payen
gasket
with the rubbery surfaces. They work every time.

Spit 1300 racer head gasket issues.

I have been having head gasket issues for
awhile now and finally went
with a
solid copper gasket from Gasket works that
actually was designed to
lower
compression a bit. It leaked oil at ECR, so
the head is off again and
I'm
looking for a gasket dressing/seal that will get
this done for the rest
of the
year. Can't get a response from Gasket works,
and Moss recommends
Hylomar.
Suggestions?
