I took the later approach. NPT plugs are easy to find locally and
cheap.

Subject: [Fot] oil galley plugs
Once upon time Charle Runyon made a big deal about having reproduced in
stick form the oil galley plugs for the ends of the TR4 and TR6 blocks.
I
couldn't find them in the online order system they provide and they did
not
appear in any of the Glovebox catalogs I have on hand so I assumed that
TRF
sold them out and didn't replace them. I now know that they still make
them
in sticks of three, Part numbers are PU1404/3 for the TR3/4 and PS1103/3
for
the TR6. Why they didn't make them in pairs only Charles can answer.
Luckily
I have a leftover and since I'm building 2 engines a new stick will take
care of my needs. I know that the plugs are not pipe thread, but I do
not
know what they are. apparantly it is fairly easy to rethread them to
pipe
and use a recessed head plug, but I'll stick with the OEM approach.

I'm not certain Bob, But I believe they are just an aluminum plug that
is
oversized and driven in and peened over. I would suggest replacing with
a
brass pipe taped plug and file or grind flat a steel plug pipe taped
that
has a slotted head to save the filing operation.
