It could be you have broken rings from detonation.
I ran stock pistons with 14.5/1 with no broken piston ring problems until I
put in a 110 main jet when I should have put in 120. I did get new
(stronger) glasses to solve the jet problem.:-)

Compression ratio: almost 12:1
Pistons: forged venolia +.040" and ceramic coated.
Fuel: $9 per gallon 110 leaded.
