Glen,
I run a system exactly like you describe, but with a Tilton balance bar and
remote calbe adjuster. The master I use for the front cylinder is slightly
taller than the one used for the rear, but I don't think that is really
necessary. I use the larger GT6 calipers as well and haven't had issues with
fluid capacity. Pictures can be found in Kas's books.
I would recommend that you get the Tilton balance bar and use it with your
existing two cylinders rather than the proportioning valve. Much better for
brake balance in all situations. The proportioning valve just reduces system
pressure to the back, but doesn't alter the front pressure. With a balance
bar, you increase one while reducing the other with almost inifinite
adjustment. Sometimes you want less pressure at the front, too.

I have been running brake line for my 72 Spitfire race car and I need to

I bought this car as a basket case from the previous owner, who had
raced it in the late 70's and he had some nice work done on the rollbar
and tub. He has fabricate a dual brake master cylinder setup from two
5/8" clutch master's with a threaded rod in between the pushrods as a
makeshift balance bar.
My question is has anyone ever ran a setup like this before?
If so was there any issue with fluid capacity for the primary circuit
with front disc brakes using the clutch master?
How well does the balance bar work over an adjustable proportioning valve?
I had plans to use the production master with a wildwood proportioning
valve, but I have clearance issues with the plenum. The plenum has been
replaced with a nicely done flat piece of aluminum.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
