This has been a frequent topic of discussion on the regular TRiumphs list. The
reason that people are advised not to take the calipers apart is that there is
no published torque spec for putting them back together. Several people on the
TRiumphs list have split their calipers after replacing that o-ring. Perhaps a
search of the list archives will help you locate the torque spec. It has been
posted in the past.
