FOT members,
I was told my another TR-6 racer that i should warm up my new engine and
then re torque the cylinder head while the engine was still warmed up. I
followed the recommended procedure tonight and then got to thinking about it...
is that really the best idea? I would think that over time The increased torque
might pull a head stud during the heating/cooling cycle. As my friend only runs
his car on weekends and I will be driving mine on the street I am getting
concerned because my car will probably be started and shut down more often than
his. After all I would rather blow a head gasket than have to strip down to the
bare block to fix a head stud.
Also while I'm at it, how much total advance do you guys run that have the
6 cylinder TR's? I am trying to have a baseline so that i can put some runtime
on my engine before I really have to spend time tuning in the ignition for
optimal performance.
thanks for your help,
Ryan
