A few years ago, I had the imported knock offs tested on a Rockwell machine
at Cornell. They were considerably softer than the NOS in addition to the
dimensions being off by aprox .050. . I have heard them refered to as being
made of "butter brass". A term which does not endear them to me.
Hopefully in the future someone will have replacements made properly so we
can support the toys for years to come. Until then, save all old synchros.
