Its 5:00 AM here, so please over look grammar.
Several thoughts on the issue of track time. It is one of issues raised
in the surveys.
#1 If we were to have this event either following and/or preceeding a
vintage event that welcomes Triumphs (like BRIC), then a person has the
option of either coming the weekend before and/or after for more track time
for the money. I believe that is one of the reasons behind the Monterey
PreHistorics.
#2. A Triumph or British only Group would probably not require the same
number of Race Groups as some of the other racing events.
#3. If we have separate races for different time periods (e.g. pre 1967,
1967-1972, 1972 - mid 1980s, and modern Spitfires) it would reduce track
time. But even if we did that, there is no reason that practices/qualify
could not be together.
#4. Finding an availble facility with some extra asphalt for concurrent
Autocross like Road America will also be a key.
Guess I am developing more of a West Coast perspective. It a solid three
day road trip one-way from California to Road America or Mid-Ohio. My last
car transport from Minneapolis to California was over $1000 one-way. That
much traveling and/or expense for a two day event might be difficult to many
to justify.
