For IVR's 2000 season, we gave our insurance agent something like $2300 for the
first six races, and we got the seventh event covered for $400, which seemed
like a good price. Of course, had we known that no one was going to show for
that beautiful weekend in October and we'd only gross $375, we would have
not held that event. So it is possible that insurance could be less of a
nightmare than one might think.
Basically, I just suggested self-sanctioning as an alternative to finding
an existing group and working within the constraints that imposes. For now
let's just keep our thinking caps on and see what sort of ideas are presented.
Who knows how this could turn out? It could be something as simple as a group
of guys getting together for a one shot deal that isn't much more than test
and tune track time, it could be end up being an annual event that every
Triumph racer on the continent puts on their calendar in indelible ink.
We shall see.
