Hi Tim,
A drag prep shop is a great place to get a cage or bar made. Mine was done in
one day. They didnt want a Brit car infecting the shop overnight I guess.
Mine is both removable and has a front hoop! The side protection bars just dont
go very high so that the whole mess can be unbolted and rolled out from under
the dash by raising the rear bar high in the air and then scooting it back. It
has support braces with pads on the upper wheel wells and backup plates inside
the wheel well. The floor legs (front and back hoop) terminate above the frame
on 1/4 " pads and it has backup plates on the lower side of the frame with four
bolts that essentially reach around the frame. Since the frame is somewhat
inboard from the edge of the car, the pads on the end of the legs are pretty
large to reach over to the frame and hence the thick steel and big gusset.
if you need a photo, I could take one and email it to you assuming AOL passes
images as attachments.
