You are a brave man to report this one, 'dave n'! While we're unlikely to
admit it, I think most of us who have worked on cars and motorcycles for
many years have had our 'Exxon Valdez' moments. I buy the 50lb bags of Oil
Dry, then put smaller amounts in wide mouth shakers for small spills. I
converted my potentially strippable aluminum pan cars ('67 E-type and '70
Datsun roadster), as well as the large bore oil reservoir drain on my '89
Carrera, which can empty 6 quarts of hot oil in about 8 seconds, to Fumoto
valves. One could argue that a Fumoto doesn't drain the pan completely, but
it's a very controllable flow. The 911 has been the source of most of my
hazmat issues over the years, even with two four post lifts in the shop!
