Well you are in good luck then! 1-4 synchros are all the same style. Servo
boxes have steel synchros. I have heard that the Borg Warner are better,
smoother shifting, but frankly I haven't had any problems with my rebuilt Servo
box. Need any Servo 1-4 synchros, just let me know. I have 2 brand new ones
and two used ones that could probably still be used.
I have heard from some mechanics that you can turn the synchros so the other
side wears, but there are those who disagree to. My 3rd gear is turned, so if
it starts to die, I'll let you know.
5th gear... if it's not splined, it WILL slip. I found out the hard way after
mistakenly thinking I had a splined unit, but it turned out to be pressed.
Long story, dumb Eric. You can fix a pressed unit by having it TIG/Heliarced.
At least I haven't had any problems on mine after over 10K miles.
Good luck!!
Eric
