Richard,  If you don't drive your roadster much or sometimes it happens
anyway.  If the clutch pedal is pushed all the way to the floor, the
piston will stick at the back of the master cylinder and cause the
symptoms you mention.  Remove the cylinder and clean everything up,
reassemble and you shold be OK.  You may have to use air to blow into
the tube connection to push the piston out.  Do this before you remove
the snap ring.  NAPA has kits for the master cylinder but you should be
ok by just cleaning it up.
Hope this helps.  The slave cylinder will sometimes do the same thing if
the car sits awhile.  Good reason to remove old fluid from the
ressevoir, refill and bleed the system thoroughly once a year to get rid
of water in the system.  Hope this helps.
