Gas gauge

Having trouble getting gauge to read correctly.Sending unit is new,tank was
rinsed and sealed,all other gauges in cluster work.Gauge shows tank half full
when it is actually full then drops down to read empty when it is half full.I
switched wires in trunk at sending unit and then it just red full all the time
and didn't drop with use.Suggestions?
