Hi Lou ,
If you haven't got the word yet ,No a Z trany will Not fit (contrary to
Stan's post ).You can not change the bell housing (Front trany case )
to fit a R or U series engine .These tranys ( 2 piece case design )
fit L-Series and Naps Z engine blocks .What Stan may have had on his mind ,
is that an early 240 Z 4 speed is a 3 piece case ,and by changing a
Roadster 5 speed bell housing to it ,it could be installed .However ,this
misses your point .This was done many times to install a Roadster 5 speed
into a L-Series engined car such as a 510 or Z car by using the 240 z
bell housing
on the Roadster 5 speed .You can not install a roadster 5 speed case in
it's entirety either,
on a Late z 5 speed gear train.
