overheating

Hello Listers,
 
On the way back from solvang my car started overheating.
With the warm weather upon us here in the bay area , Im hoping for some 
suggestions on how to make sure this problem doesnt persist.
I have a 67.5 1600 ... are there any upgrade for the radiator?? 3 core 4 
core..aluminum??
Also what is the best thermostat as far as brand and temperature for the 1600.
