Well, to the best that I can determine, there were 4 - possibly 5 different
variations. The early (first) version is the one that is open the full
circumference of the aircleaner. The next is a closed unit that has a BUNCH
of holes around the perimeter. The third is also a closed that has only a
few holes around the perimeter. (The third is the one that is on the Rallye
website)
The other variations were for the French market. I have seen them in the
parts book, but not in person. I say them, because there could be
variations of the diagram. Basically it is a closed unit with a snorkel
(like the 240Z aircleaner). It appears to be the basic closed unit. The
diagram is not clear if there are holes around the perimeter - if there are,
that would be the 5th variation.
Now, if you have a French unit, that could be used for cold air induction.
Pretty low volume though because the snorkel is small....
I have had one of each (well two of the late closed units, so a total of 4)
over the years, so I know that those three ACTUALLY exist. The French unit
could be like Pigeon babies - we know that they have to be out there, but
has anyone actually really seen one?? (homing pigeon babies don't count!)
