Just tried 4 new ones and could remove and replace the knobs with
fingers only. I have not encountered a good new one that required the
use of pliers when knob is being removed or replaced. Knob should be
turned clockwise for removal after compressing spring.
Wonder why pliers are needed since I am sort of weak and old and on
Medicare because of age.
I suspect that the pin could be pulled and the shaft threaded so the old
type knob could be used. The resulting glut of new style knobs could
cause the price to drop to less than one dollar.
