In addition to Norton Anti-Virus (only)
I have gotten into the habit of running
the Windows registry editor and
searching for things like GATOR, KAZAA,
and any other program I hear reports
your activities back to someone you
never heard of. I delete all references
to these programs in the Windows
Registry, then search out their files on
my hard drives and manually remove them
as well.

If you are not comfortable in the
registry you might ask for help from
someone who is. If you don't have a
registry file backup and delete the
wrong thing you can cause enough damage
to Windows to end up re-installing the
program.

Since I am not always the only person to
use this computer, and others cannot
seem to resist a "free" program, I have
found spy programs like Gator installed
a couple of times. Like Mike says,
Ad-Aware is a very good program, and I
was not aware version 6 was available.
Thanx for the tip mike, I will install
the newer version.
