Someone played with the headlight/parking light wiring and hooked everything
to the same position on the switch. It's fine like it is unless you want to
run only parking lights during the day.
The plates under the valves are so that the aluminum doesn't get chewed up.
If you are using the stock valve seals they already have those plates and if
you're using aftermarket seals the shop should know to use plates and shims
to set all the springs to the same installed height. NO manual I have gives
the installed spring height unfortunately for the R engine. My machine shop
called everyone to no avail. All the other manuals I had for various Datsun
motors gave installed height measurements.
