There is a plate that presses in to the end of the handle, tap the plate out
and the assy comes apart. Replace with a long bike cable that you can thread
through the inner "keeper" . Oil/grease the inside of the handle and it all
goes back together the same way it came apart. Cut the ends of the cable
with
sharp cutters and is should fray. Solder the ends if you want, using flux to
get the cable clean.
