For all:
Craig is a good guy, I met him last weekend at a mutual friends house.
Yes, he did bring me a roadster part, the traction bar from a
68 or newer car. I needed the bracket that welds on the frame,
and he brought me most of the frame (his torch wasnt working).
I would just like to say that there is no possible way that frame
could have belonged to any roadster that had any hope of
restoration, it had big giant holes in it all over. (but the bracket
was good). So, yea, he does cut up roadsters, and or sell parts,
but only from ones that have absolutly no hope of restoration.
Remember, this is the EAST COAST, these things rust out here.
And that traction bar and bracket will live on in my car.
Oh yea, one last thing, Craig is not in it for the money, he
just loves the cars. The cost of my parts was 5 dollars.
Best Regards,

Subject: list ethics, parts, cars, gripes
while we're on the subject,
recently Mike Harpur posted to the list about a Solex car for sale in N.
Carolina for $1,000. I called the man, made a deal, and sent him the deposit
we agreed upon. when I called him back for directions to his house today to
go pick up the car, he told me that a NUMBER of people had both e-mailed or
called him about the car and when they found I was getting it, they told him
that I have a reputation for cutting up cars........well isn't that
interesting. basically, they wanted the car for whatever reason and were
pissed someone got there first. and what they were really doing was trying
to talk Larry out of honoring the deal we made. you know who you are, and
you are scum.
FACT: I have been playing with roadsters for 23 years. in all that time I do
not believe I've cut up a single car that was worth restoring. the total
number of cars I've disassembled in that period of time is well under one
per year. I have spent thousands upon thousands of dollars storing cars in
this period of time that most people would scrap, because I try not to cut
up anything with any possible "redeeming value". the majority of my
roadsters I paid $200 or less for. I get them from junkyards to save them
from being crushed. I get them from people who have tried to sell them for
years and nobody wanted to buy them because they were so bad. I tell people
when they get tired of trying to sell them to people who just want to call
and waste their time looking and then tell them what a piece of crap they
have to give me a call and I'll give them a couple hundred bucks and haul it
away. if I was the roadster butcher these people claim, I wouldn't have all
these junk roadsters taking up space and costing me money. I might instead
have the money to buy one and actually drive it (no, I haven't been able to
afford one that's a driver for years)
so I finally come across a good one for a price I can afford and people try
to steal it out from under me by slandering me.

sometimes Elaine tells me I should just crush 'em all and get on with my
life
