Jim,

Retirement? You're too young.

Anyway, get your dremel out and open up all the passages you can see on the
deck surfaces - both the block and the head. You'd be surprised at how
clogged they can become over the years and how bad some of the castings are.
Smooth them all out. One guy went so far as to polish the area behind the
waterpump and clean out all the flashing. I did that to some degree.
