Ron,

No, the steering shaft does not have to be moved to clear IF you use a
FWD Sentra SE-R exhaust manifold (a 
Nissan Primera manifold will clear too).

The notch in the front crossmember is about 1 3/4", but we can give you
exact measurements this weekend as we 
will be doing a three-day SR swap.
