I took my frame to a fabrication shop and had them cut out the
old pass through tubes and open them up for a partially squashed
3 inch tubing and had them weld it in there.  I can now put a 2 1/4
inch exhaust pipe through there with plenty of clearance.  I can't
remember what it cost.  I am doing a frame off restoration so it
was easy to take the frame there after I had it sandblasted.
