Hi all,
Just thought I'd throw my 2c in here (keep in mind that that's Australian
money, so it's really only 1c to most of you!)
IMHO, Roman's comments are absolutely on the ball. I love the conversions
I've seen. I can certainly understand wanting more "go" than even a stock
U20 Solex can provide. Hell, I've got a 2inch exhaust and custom headers
that make a noticeable difference to my car's performance, so it's not
technically "stock" anymore. I know that for some classic events I'd have
to change it back! Besides, our roadsters are so gorgeous, but old, I can
definitely understand putting something more reliable under the bonnet.
Having said that, I think it'd be a great shame if ALL the roadsters in the
world got changed that way. I think it's important to keep some original -
or close enough to be easily returned to original.
There's great value in both approaches, IMHO.
Cheers,
Steve
('68 2000 Solex - yeah, it's all original except the exhaust)
