Others certainly have more experience, but the answer is YES, you must lube the oil pump before you install it. Every manual I have read says use something like white lube, otherwise the first few seconds before circulation kicks in are TOO HARSH on close tolerances. The white lube breaks down at medium temps, so it'll do its work for the short time and then come out in the first oil change. Fergus O |
