Dave,

I haven't tried it yet. Soldering busted copper water pipes and other
chores kept me busy. It's either the house or the car that needs attention,
and I do like hot showers.

Let me know if you find a good hotter coil as I'll need one also. The other
thing I remember is that you need to widen the spark plug gap. A small gap will
limit the spark, defeating the use of the hotter coil.

Fred

Hello all

Another question after looking thru the archives and not finding the
answer:

I'm putting on a Pertronix unit soon, and I'm wondering if I can put
on a hotter coil (eg MSD) and remove the ballast resistor.

I understand that the resistor is to protect the points (which will
be gone) and the keep the stock coil from overheating (hence the
aftermarket coil)

What am I missing? (if anything)

I remember reading a couple of weeks ago that Fred Katz was planning
on trying this (or something like it).

Anyhow, TIA for any and all responses.

Dave
