List,
I'm rebuilding the rear end on the 68 and I'm wondering if I should get
into replacing the bearings on the differential. I drained the oil and it was
really dirty but there was no visible metal filings that I could see/feel. The
gasket looks original and the whole thing looks like nobody touched it from
day one. The car has supposedly 20,000 original miles ( ?? ) and by looking
at other mechanical parts they have not seen much wear - but lot's of
corrosion/pitting from standing still and not being stored properly. Any
thoughts on risk of leaving as is vs. level of difficulty to replace later. Or
any thoughts on the subject at all?? The car saw street use only - from what I
got out of discussions with PO.
Thanks..Michael
