I ran a 6-lb aluminum flywheel with a plasma-sprayed facing for a couple of
years when I was autocrossing. It was great for racing but hell on the hills in
Seattle. It wore out in 2 years. Now it hangs on my garage wall as a
conversation piece.

Tilton makes an 11-lb aluminum unit for the roadster, but they only run the
batch once a year and sell them all to Nissan Comp. When they run out, you have
to wait for the next batch. Or at least that's what they told me.

In all my excitement about these new parts I forgot to ask if anyone has either
lightened
the stock U20 flywheel or used an aluminum flywheel. Ive heard that there are
a couple
of aluminum flywheels available but they are expensive. The Comp. Prep Manual
only show a
diagram for lightening the 1600 flywheel. If youve done this on a 2L, what did
you do?
