Go to ListQuest.com to find many postings on the one wire alternator. I
have sent Andy several pictures of my setup to put in his photopoint album
You can access them at:

Basically I ask for a 70's model Chevy Impala or Camaro alternator. The
numbers I have are P7127M-3, 05210100, N1-39, and 711860X, all off an
Advance Auto Parts rebuilt alternator. I have to rotate the rear of the
case 1/4 turn to allow the two prong plug to fit straight up. A different
part number might have the case in the right alignment. I use about four
washers to align the belt with the pully. I run a large wire from the "+"
post on the alternator to the hot side (red wire) of the two prong plug, and
I run the same large wire to the "+" terminal of the battery, with a 30A
fuse in the line. I leave the white wire unconnected, but I think Tom
Walter connects it to the ignition wire with a 12V bulb in line. I also run
a large wire from the alternator to my ammeter connection (White with Red
stripe) with a 30A fuse in line. The ammeter doesn't work now (on purpose)
and I have two fused leads to the fuse box from the Alternator. This is
very handy when your wires start to smoke and glow, and there is a good
chance they will with a single wire alternator setup that fries its internal
regulator. I also used a bit of exhaust wrap to keep heat off the two prong
plug. Check it out
