Wheel bearing question

I repacked my wheel bearings this weekend and I found the inner wheel 
bearings were black and the outer bearings were very light colored (fresh 
grease). Is it possible that the autocross and track events that I've done 
got the bearings hot enough to discolor the grease on the inner bearing. The 
bearings do not have hot marks and the bearings show no sign of wear it was 
just the color difference of the grease.
