Dear Friends,

If you need to remove your OEM dash on a high windshield and haven't also
the need to remove the windshield as well, here's a small tip for getting
at those 6 dash-bolts at the base of the windshield.

Ignore the fact that the bolts are cut for a Phillips
screwdriver. Instead, take advantage of the fact that they have 7/16"
hexagonal heads. Use a squat (length of 5/8" or less) 6-point 7/16"
socket. The smaller the drive the better. (I used a 1/4" drive socket.) I
fashioned a simple handle by cutting back an Allen wrench so that it sits
flush against the back of the socket. That leaves sufficient room to turn
the socket without endangering the windshield.

A little encouragement with P.B.Blaster and the 6 bolts are easily removed
while the windshield is left in place.

Be patient. The bolts have a fine thread.

For those of us in the East, there is another reason to be patient. Snow
again, or still, depending on how close you are to Cleveland and the Great
Lakes!

Best,
Teddy
