Me too. My dad bought a used 69 Camaro SS/RS 396/350 while I was away in
college. He lent it to me and as I was gradually accelerating with a cop
behind me I lost complete control of the car as it suddenly accelerated
unexpectedly, like it had a mind of its own. I started to spin and almost
hit gas pumps at a gas station but I was able to avoid them and instead hit
a tree which totaled the car. Fortunately I was wearing a seatbelt and was
unhurt.

The upshot is that Chevy recalled millions of cars a few months later for
defective motor mounts that could cause the exact same condition -
unintended acceleration.

The insurance company reexamined the car and lo and behold the motor mount
was sheared. Too bad as it was a beautiful car. My dad went out and bought a
new 71 Camaro with the same options.

But the most important thing was that I was OK as was my friend. Seatbelts
do wonders.

Ed, glad to hear your GF is fine and unhurt and you too Gordon!

Mike
