Prince (PMC) got some of their OHC technology from Mercedes Benz. The mid
1960's B200 Prince Gloria (great name!) had an OHC six that is basically the
Merc engine. It's so similar that parts are interchangeable I've been told.
The L series is derived from this engine, I believe. Alan Bent might know
for sure.
I honestly think that aquiring PMC was the best thing Nissan ever did...
their technology was miles ahead of Nissan's. For example, apparently the
C30 Laurel was a PMC design. A lot of it's features are found in other later
Nissan models, like the strut front suspension with rearward T/C rod and R+P
steering (same as a 240Z), semi-trailing IRS (same as 510, 610 C110 etc etc)
even the OHC 1800 (G18) engine was rated at a healthy 108hp... pretty good
for the late '60's.
