Corvairs -- Don't do it.
I had a 1965 red over black Corsa 4 speed convertible and while it was a
beautiful car, and drove well when it drove well (much better than the 65
mustangs I have driven) that was not that often. It got out of tune in a
week (4 carbs to balance), leaked oil (even with new modern seals), smelled
inside when the heater was on, which didn't work anyway, and generally was
not a useful car for days when the top had to be up.
I was actually happy when my son totaled it (he was fine).
As to values, a cherry 65 or 66 convertible is probably worth $8 to $10K
tops, they are priced like roadsters, and the restoration costs are usually
not recoverable.
There is a Corvair users e-mail group much like this one.
