If you want to build just a shed with a slab on grade floor that's one thing.
If you plan on enclosing it that's a different story. Up in BC you will need
full footings if you plan on enclosing it or the structure will move with the
frosts.
There will be certain somewhat fixed costs. Going to a 24x24 foot garage will
not cost twice of what a 12x24 would cost. Garages don't break down in square
foot costs the same a house would. For example, you will pay the excavator
for the day to dig either size. The same with the form guy. Materials would
be double but labor won't be. The concrete for the slab would be double but
not the finishing.
Figure out what you really want then cut costs by doing things yourself. Few
people can finish concrete,alot of people can wood frame, most people can
shingle a roof.
Ask friends to help out. Have a garage party.
