tie rod ends

I am cleaning up and painting my tie rod ends and after I finally get
all the grud and grime off I notice they are stamped with an:  R   &   L
 which I assume is for the right and left side.
My question is:  Which is the right and left side of the car?  My
thoughts are that the drivers side is the left and the pass is the
right...  Is this correct?
