Mike,
I use the stock rotors and calipers. There is no dust shield on my
fronts and the rear dust shields have been modified as in Bob Sharps
manual. For pads/shoes I used to use Ferodo DS 11s in the front and
Datsun "Green Stuff" in the rears when I raced 30 yrs ago. At Sears
Point, twice a lap I would go from 110+ to 30 as major long braking plus
3 other hard braking points in between. Each lap was under 2 minutes,
race would last 30 minutes. Add to that that temperatures were
frequently over 100 degrees at the track. I never experienced brake fad.
I have now installed Metal Masters in the front, that I bought from
Dennis at CDM. At the auto cross events, they worked fine and I think
you would find them more than sufficient. I can let you know how they
hold up at Thunderhill after July 6th.
However, those vented rotors they sell at CDM sure look great! If ok for
vintage racing, those will be on my list of gift suggestions o<l:-)> I
believe Calspeed is using stock pads/shoes.
