I think I can answer that as I debated awhile before doing it myself.  As
the motor heats and cools during operation,  the cast block and aluminum
head expand and contract (ever so slightly) at a different rate.  By using a
"dry" gasket you allow the head and block to move independently (again, ever
so slightly) as they heat and cool.  I opted to Koppercoat, as recommended
by quite a few other owners, as I had oil getting into the coolant supply.
I had already taken the head off once, with the same results.  I checked
everything possible, short of pressure testing the block, which the machine
shop had done previously.  Guess what--Koppercoat the gasket and problem
instanly solved.  Even if it wasn't the "perfect" solution, it worked.

BTW, thanks for the replys regarding the oil weights.  I forgot to ask this
earlier-I thought I read somewhere that non-detergent was good for break-in.
Any thoughts?  Seems like the only place I can find it is at the local
Tractor Supply-really cheap, no name stuff.
