Hi guys,
My 1600 has been slow to synch 2nd since I bought it in April. I have
learned to compensate for it by giving it more time to adjust. You can
feel and hear the synchros working if your tune in to it. I run it fairly
hard and I do down shift when slowing down so it has become an art to get
2nd to join the program. One thing I did to prolong the life was to put in
some special metal treatment, BI-Tron 2-4-6 by N.A.T.O., I purchased from
an independent distributor here in Florida. It claims to coat all metal
surface with a layer of positively charged ionic oil molecules. This is a
pure petroleum based product with no solids, PTFE or metal. This is not
"Slick-50" its something much better. I have noticed a difference in
operation, but , NO...It will not fix worn synchros. What it will do is
hopefully give you more miles before you are forced to pull the engine.
I am also using Bi-Trons engine treatment and I differently picked up some
RPMs after adding it to the oil.
If you need more information contact Henry Lake hlake3@bellsouth.net He
is a good friend and can fax you the spec sheets on the products by Bi-Tron.
I think this is a good product for extending the life of our cars.
