Fred,
The problem is that the window is rolling down too far.There is supposed to 
be a stop in the track that keeps the window regulator from going too far 
down and if it's gone the rubber will snap into the wrong position.  I 
fabricaten one out of plumbers tape (thin sheet metal with holes in it); 
original was plastic.

Eventually the rubber gets "trained" to stay in the right position.
