Non-relevant but technical question

Lads,

I have had some problems in the past with a "hot" engine bay in the
Midget. This has caused me to consider obscene alterations like
having the hood
"louvered". Note: late Midgets have virtually no frontal exposure by
design (look like a 911)

Here is the question:

Does anyone know how the "scoop" on the Roadster hood may effectively
function? Does it act as a "ram-air" intake (suspect it depends upon
aerodynamics)? Or does it allow heat to escape? Or neither? Just
Curious.

Cheers,
Jeff Mathys
