To tag on to what Philip Erickson said about MG parts on or in Datsuns.

Here is some of the data that I have gathered from Web resources.  I
didn't find a Datsun truck that was powered by a 1300 (yet).  

>From personal experience, the late midgets (1500's) are terribly
underpowered, primarily, due to smog restrictions (7:1 vs 9:1
compression) and a single Zenith Stromberg carb (Triumph invention)


So did the early Datsun trucks use the Austin A-series engine and
change the bore or stroke?
